Mayor's Update on Recreation Center

UPDATE ON THE RECREATION/AQUATIC/SENIOR CENTER

Dear Spanish Fork,

Eight months ago, I shared a special announcement regarding the City Council’s united direction to move forward with the planning, designing, and funding of a recreation, aquatic, and senior center project.

While there are still a few unknowns, I’m pleased to provide updates of the progress that has been made to this point. More information is available at spanishfork.org/reccenter where you can find regular and reliable facts regarding the project.

Funding

The City Budget for FY 2022-2023 has now been approved by the council. The project has several funding sources including sales tax revenue, RAP program and impact fees. The budget also included a portion of funding from a property tax increase of $4.90 per month on the average home in Spanish Fork.

Location

We have identified the Sports Park on Main Street and Volunteer Drive as the location. It will provide beauty, accessibility, and shared space for our residents to enjoy while getting healthy together.

Design

We don’t have completed architectural drawings yet, but they are being worked on now. Features will include indoor and outdoor pools, basketball courts, multi-purpose courts, an indoor track, gym and cardio equipment, and a fully functioning senior center.

Timeline

We know Spanish Fork families miss a community pool greatly. We will work efficiently through the design and construction phases. We anticipate completion in the fall of 2025.

Admission Cost

Studies are being done and fees will be consistent with current market values at the time the facility is opened.

Thank you for your confidence and your patience. As mentioned before, this project is a vital aspect to maintaining and growing the quality of life we enjoy in Spanish Fork. The Home of Pride and Progress.
