Pyromusical Named Outstanding Special Event of the Year

May 5, 2022

At this week's City Council Meeting, the Utah Recreation and Parks Association recognized Spanish Fork City's Pyromusical as the Outstanding Special Event of the year.

Each year the Utah Recreation and Parks Association (URPA) recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of parks, recreation, and leisure services within the State of Utah. Nominations are received in several different categories. Individuals, facilities, programs, and departments are acknowledged for their accomplishments.
Spanish ForkFiesta Days PyroMusical won the Outstanding Special Event award at this year’s URPA Conference which was held in March in St. George.

The PyroMusical was selected for its uniqueness as a spectacular event that was started by a few residents as a neighborhood fireworks show. As the event grew over the years, it was turned over to the Fiesta Days committee as it now has over 30,000 attendees each year.

The PyroMusical isn’t your typical fireworks show, the music and the fireworks are synced together to create a show like no other. Fiesta Days is the only city celebration in Utah that we know of, that starts and ends with a fireworks show.

Last year's event was chaired by Fiesta Days volunteers with Mike Clayson overseeing the event. Clayson has been involved with the event for the past 6 years. He, along with the Fiesta Days Committee, has been instrumental in fundraising efforts and the collaboration between the City and local businesses. The event has been supported by donations with no financial assistance needed from the City thanks to the fundraising efforts.
