Sky Spectacular

The Sky Spectacular will be a unique event celebrating kites, the new wind farm at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, wind driven and wind powered devices, and environmentally friendly business and practices. It will be held on a mountainside plateau near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon September 5th (noon to dusk) & 6th (9am - dusk). The plateau is the site of the Spanish Fork Gun Club, which is located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, overlooking the beautiful Utah Valley. This location offers a rare and stunning view over an expansive valley surrounded by snow capped mountains. This will be a unique mountain kite flying experience for all attending.

Entertainment & Events

The Sky Spectacular will feature the best entertainment from both inside and outside of Utah. Imagine 100 foot long Octopus Kites filling the sky (Berkeley Kite Wranglers, CA); jet skis pulling a series of kites on the reservoir in a kite show you've never seen before (Kiteman Productions, FL); Chinese Kites, Kite Museum, and Children's Kite Making Workshop sponsored by Tesoro Combos (Great Winds Kites, WA); a remote control airplane air show (Spirit of Utah Air Show Team, Salt Lake City); aerial art on the reservoir beach (Scott Hampton, Salt Lake City); and paragliding (Cloud 9 Kites, Draper).

Mayoral Proclamation

The Sky Spectacular will include special celebration Saturday morning at 11am to welcome the newly built windmills at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. The celebration will include a small aircraft flyover, balloon release, visiting dignitaries, and the Mayor of Spanish Fork will declare September 6 as "Wind Power Day."

"Go Green" Expo

The Sky Spectacular will feature a "Go Green" Expo. Vendors, businesses, and clubs from the surrounding area will feature "green" products and practices. Don't forget to visit each of these vendors for a chance to win fabulous prizes. A drawing will be held at the end of the festival. Vendors include:
