Blue Stakes
Q. I am going to be doing some digging, how do I know where all of the public utilities are?
A. If you are going to be doing any type of digging, excavating or construction first call for a blue stake.A blue stake is when a representative of the city comes out and marks with spray paint all of the underground utilities, taking the guess work out of digging.The number to call for a blue stake is 1-800-662-4111.Please call two days before digging.
Building Permits
Q. How do I get a building permit and what are the minimum setbacks for my property?
A. Building permits can be obtained at the city offices in room 230. You may go to the Building Permits page for more information or to print out a building permit application. Visit the Zoning section of the Planning page to find the required setbacks for residential, commercial or industrial property.
Property Boundaries
Q. Where can I get accurate information on my property boundaries and lot size?
A. All property information is recorded by Utah County.You can either go directly to the County Building in Provo or you can visit their website at www.co.utah.ut.us and go to 'online county land records' and then to 'web access to land information'.You may then search for a property by owner name, address, serial number or by subdivision name.
Road Construction
Q. The city is working on my street and I would like to know when the construction will be done. Who do I contact to find out?

Zoning
Q. Where can I find a current zoning map of the city?
A. There are two ways that you can find current zoning information.You may go to the City Maps page on our website and find the information there or you may come in to the city offices and purchase one from the engineering secretary in room 230 for $3.00.A description of each zone and the specifications regarding that zone are found on the city website on the Planning page under zoning.
