Traffic School

In 1995, the Spanish Fork Police Department established a traffic school. The Department began offering a traffic school for persons cited for moving violations. In an attempt to educate drivers and reduce the number of accidents in Spanish Fork.

Attendance to our traffic school will allow licensed drivers an opportunity to improve their knowledge of traffic law and keep a clean driving record. Upon completion of the class, the citation will be dismissed and will not appear on your driving record with the Drivers License Division.

To qualify for traffic school, you must meet the following criteria:

  • No prior moving citation according to Spanish Fork Police records within the past year.
  • You must not have completed Spanish Fork City's Traffic School within the past year.
  • You must have a valid drivers license at the time of the citation.

The citation may not be incident to an alcohol violation, (including DUI ), reckless driving, or evading a peace officer.

Citations which involve an accident will be handled on a case by case basis under the direction of the Spanish Fork Police Department supervision or the City Prosecutor's office.

There are two options for traffic school. A Live Traffic School and an Online Traffic School. You may choose to attend either course.

When you have completed either the Live Course or the Online Course the City Attorney will make a motion to dismiss the citation and no points will be shown on your permanent driving record. If you fail to attend or pass the class a notice will be sent out to you from the court for a formal sentencing on the citation. This happens because you have not complied with the terms of the plea in abeyance.

If you choose not to attend one of the two schools offered, you are still responsible for the citation which may include court appearances and possible fines.
