March 29, 2005

Detective Courtney Jones along with officers from the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant in the central part of Spanish Fork. The occupants of the home, a 24 year old male and a 31 year old female were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug free zone. The suspects admitted to officers that they had been using cocaine early that same day.

Follow up on a vehicle burglary. During the early morning hours of January 9th, 2005 Officer Lance Rudd noticed a a vehicle that appeared to have been broken into. Upon further investigation it was determined that a vehicle burglary had taken place. Officer Rudd contacted the owner and processed the vehicle for latent finger prints. Latent finger prints were found and sent to the crime lab. It was determined that the finger prints belong to a male living in Spanish Fork. Detective John Jackson interviewed the suspect. The suspect could give no reason for his finger prints to be on the vehicle. He also denied committing the vehicle burglary. The case has been referred to the City Attorney.

March 28, 2005

Lewdness. Detective Matt Johnson, who currently teaches Vocational Law Enforcement at the Spanish Fork High School, was asked to assist St George Police Department in a lewdness case occurring at the Sun Shine Tournament. The suspect had streaked across a ball field during tournament games. Detective Johnson was able to identify the suspect through confidential citizen informants. Officer Johnson obtained a confession where the suspect indicated he succumbed to peer pressure. The 16 year male from Spanish Fork High School was referred to Juvenile Court for Lewdness.

March 25, 2005

Macey's requested an officer to respond to their business as they had caught a female shoplifter. Officer Chris Sheriff responded. Officer Sheriff was able to determine that the suspect no only had shoplifted but had a warrant for her arrest and had been forging several checks throughout the County. The suspect Nicole Brown was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail.

March 21, 2005

While doing a security check at Mountain America Credit Union Officer Chris Sheriff observed a suspicious male. Officer Sheriff made contact with the subject and found him to be Matthew Alvey. A warrants check was done on Alvey. Alvey had two outstanding warrants and was arrested. Officer Sheriff search Alvey and found methamphetamine and paraphernalia in his pockets. Alvey was booked into the Utah County Jail.

March 17, 2005

Officer Lance Rudd arrested Stanley May for warrants violations. During this arrest Officer Rudd search the vehicle May was driving and spoke with passenger James Scott Franz. During the search Officer Rudd found heroin, cocaine and paraphernalia. Officer Rudd was able to determine that the occupants had just returned from the Salt Lake City area where Franz had purchased the narcotics. Franz was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and paraphernalia. May was arrested for three warrants and driving of suspension. Both May and Franz were booked into the Utah County Jail.

March 17, 2005

Patrol Sergeant Brandon Anderson was dispatched to the Spanish Fork 4th District Court on an individual there that had a warrant for his arrest. Sergeant Anderson spoke with the suspect and placed him under arrest. The suspect Justin Lance was found to have methamphetamine in a silver container attached to his car key chain. After further investigation Sergeant Anderson and Officer Tony Lunceford found that Justin Lance had a car in the parking lot. The car was impounded. An vehicle inventory was conducted. During this inventory officers found methamphetamine marijuana and paraphernalia. Justin Lance was booked into the Utah County Jail for two warrants as well as possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia in a drug free zone.

March 14

Officer Chris Sheriff made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. Upon speaking with the occupants Officer Sheriff noticed an odor of marijuana. Upon further investigation Officer Sheriff found that the driver, John Laney, had a warrant for his arrest. He also found that a second male in the vehicle was listed as a missing person from California in October of 2004. The owner of the vehicle was a passenger. She was found to have paraphernalia in her purse. Laney was booked into the Utah County Jail. The male listed as missing was put in contact with his grandfather and a misdemeanor citation was given to the female for possession of paraphernalia.

March 10, 2005

Spanish Fork resident, Samuel Butler was arrested by Detectives Jones and Nielsen in Springville, Utah. A Federal arrest warrant had been issued on Sam that day. Sam was located at girlfriends residence and placed under arrest. Sam was found in possession of nearly five grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Sam was booked into the Utah County Jail for felony drug charges and the Federal arrest warrant.

March 8, 2005

Detective Jones assigned to the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, with other members of the task force served a search warrant on a residence located in the Southwest area of Spanish Fork. A quantity of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and firearms were seized as evidence. Matt and Ashlie Youd were arrested and booked into the Utah County jail for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.

March 7

Detective Phil Nielsen along with other Spanish Fork Police Officers and Utah County Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on a residence in the South West section of town. Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other items were seized. Charlene Stallings, a 43 year old female, was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on felony drug related crimes.

March 4

Detective Phil Nielsen along with other Spanish Fork Police Officers and Utah County Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on a residence in the South West section of town. Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other items were seized. Charlene Stallings, a 43 year old female, was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on felony drug related crimes.

March 4

Follow up information on the Arson at the Russell Swenson Ball Park. A reward was offered in reference to this case. Individuals with information came forward and provided suspect information. Detective Sergeant Richard Hales spoke with the named suspects and obtained confessions. The suspects were 13 and 14 year old boys. They indicated that they intended to start the fire. Both were referred to the Juvenile Court for Arson.

March 2, 2005

Narcotics officers Courtney Jones and Phil Nielsen received a call from a citizen concerning a narcotics sale that had just transpired at Johnn'ys drive up. Detectives Jones and Nielsen responded to the area and located the vehicles and the occupants involved in the suspected narcotics transaction. Both vehicles were stopped for traffic violations. A female was identified as Wendy Hailstone out of Lehi, Utah. A K-9 search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of methamphetamine and some paraphernalia. Wendy was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. We would like to thank the concerned citizen for their diligence and willingness to make a difference.

March 1

Patrol Sergeant Cory Slaymaker responded to a home at the request of the occupants. Upon his arrival he was informed by the mother of the home that she suspected her son was using drugs as she had found some paraphernalia in the home. Sergeant Slaymaker made contact with the son. Through an interview Sergeant Slaymaker was able to confirm the son's drug use and obtain a small amount of heroin. The 21 year old male was arrested for possession of heroin and paraphernalia as well as a warrant. He was booked into the Utah County Jail.
