Steve Leifson has served on the city council for the past four years. Steve has and is now serving on the Utah Municipal Agency Board (UMPA), The South Utah Valley Power System Board (SUVPS), the Spanish Fork Parks and Recreation Board, the Spanish Fork City Personnel Committee, and the Airport Board. Steve has also served on the Fiesta Days Committee for several years over the Parade, and is a member of the Rotary Club. He has been very involved in the economic growth of the city, keeping taxes low and maintaining a good quality of life here in Spanish Fork. Steve has been a youth coach for over 20 years, and has been very involved in many volunteer projects in the city. He was born and raised in Spanish Fork. He married Cheryl Cosgray, and they are the parents of six children: Nathan, Adam, Jenny, Sierra, Christina, and Sean. They have three adorable grandsons: Chase, Max and Griff.
Why Are You Running For Spanish Fork City Council?
Spanish Fork is where I was born and raised. My Icelandic ancestor helped settle this city. I love this city and all that it offers to the citizens as well as my family. I have gained an appreciation for city government as I have served on the different boards and committees. My love for the many volunteers as well as the hard-working employees of this city has intensified as I have witnessed firsthand what they do to make Spanish Fork a place of Pride and Progress. As a General Contractor, I know what it means to live as economically as possible in these difficult times. I feel a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to making sure our city budget reflects the needs of our citizens. Spanish Forks volunteers have made it possible for us to continue many traditional festivities which we have all come to enjoy, while keeping our expenditures for those activities at a minimum. I will work hard to see that we continue to grow and progress at a rate that is feasible for our budget.
