SPANISH FORK PARKWAY UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD CROSSING NOW OPEN

Spanish Fork, UT — With the Union Pacific Railroad crossing now open near SR-51, Spanish Fork Parkway is now fully connected and open from Canyon Creek Parkway to Canyon Road.

A grand opening ceremony for the road and crossing was held on Tuesday, October 24. Over 800 neighbors and residents came to the celebration which featured a small program, free food from local Canyon Creek businesses, a costume contest, and ceremonial raising of the crossing arms.

“Today is a big day for Spanish Fork,” Mayor Mike Mendenhall said at the ceremony. “This is a huge step in the progress of Spanish Fork. At least one-third of our residents can now get to our new retail center down here in Canyon Creek…and to and from the hospital...quicker than ever before.”

Spanish Fork Parkway has been in the works since 2010. Through various development projects, agreements, and grants, the road is finally complete.

“There are a lot of incredible people who've worked for a long, long time to make sure that the people of Spanish Fork…and here in this region…can move freely,” Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson remarked during Tuesday’s program. “Thank you to everybody who was involved in this project for getting it to cross the finish line.”
